Title of the Talk - Nanoscale Transistors and Integrated Circuits

Yogesh Singh Chauhan is a Chair Professor at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. He has developed several industry standard models for semiconductor devices: ASM-GaN-HEMT model, BSIM-BULK (formerly BSIM6), BSIM-CMG, BSIM-IMG, BSIM4 and BSIM-SOI models. His research interests are characterization, modeling, and simulation of semiconductor devices. He is the Fellow of IEEE and INAE, Editor of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices and Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Electron Devices Society. He is the Chair of IEEE-EDS Compact Modeling Committee. He is serving as well as the founding chairperson of IEEE Electron Devices Society U.P. chapter. He has published more than 250 papers in international journals and conferences. He received Ramanujan fellowship in 2012, IBM faculty award in 2013 and P. K. Kelkar fellowship in 2015, CNR Rao faculty award, Humboldt fellowship and Swarnajayanti fellowship in 2018. Prof S. N. Singh obtained his M. Tech. and Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, in 1989 and 1995. Presently, he is Vice-Chancellor, Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology Gorakhpur and leave from Professor (HAG), Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. Before joining IIT Kanpur as Associate Professor, Dr Singh worked with UP State Electricity Board as Assistant Engineer from 1988 to 1996, with Rookree University (now IIT Rookree) as Assistant Professor from 1996 to 2000 and with Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand as Assistant Professor from 2001 to 2002. Dr Singh received several awards including Young Engineer Award 2000 of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), Khosla Research Award of IIT Roorkee, and Young Engineer Award of CBIP New Delhi (India), 1996. Prof Singh is receipt of Humboldt Fellowship of Germany (2005, 2007) and Otto-monsted Fellowship of Denmark (2009-10). Prof Singh became first Asian to receive 2013 IEEE Educational Activity Board Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education. He is also recipients of INAE Outstanding Teacher Award 2016 and IEEE R10 region (Asia-Pacific) Outstanding Volunteer Award 2016. His research interests include power system restructuring, FACTS, power system optimization & control, security analysis, wind power, etc. Prof Singh has published more than 440 papers in International/national journals/conferences and supervised 29 PhD (11 PhD under progress). He has also written two books one on Electric Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution and second is Basic Electrical Engineering, published by PHI, India. Prof Singh has completed three dozen of projects in India and abroad. Prof Singh was Chairman, IEEE UP Section for 2013 & 2014, and presently, he is IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific) Conference and Technical Seminar Coordinator 2015-18. Prof Singh is also India Council Chairman-Elect 2017 of IEEE, the largest professional body in engineering.

Dr. Angarai Ganesan Ramakrishnan is the Professor and Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He obtained his Ph. D. (Biomedical Engineering) and M Tech (Electrical Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and completed his undergraduate studies at PSG College of Technology. Currently, he heads the Medical Intelligence and Language Engineering Lab at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA. He was interviewed by Bhasha India for his contributions to Indic computing. He received the Manthan Award 2014 and Manthan Award 2015, for his projects 'Gift of New Abilities' and 'Madhura - The Gift of Voice' respectively. His primary research interests include Auditory Neuroscience, Machine Learning and Pattern Recognition, particularly Speech Processing, Optical Character Recognition, Machine Listening, Medical Image Processing, and Speech Synthesis. Besides research and teaching, he enjoys applying academic research to solve real world problems. Title of the Talk - Microwave Radiation Hazards and its Remedy: An Effective Electromagnetic Modeling 

Dharmendra Singh was born in Varanasi, U. P., India and he basically belongs to Jaunpur, U.P., India. He received his Ph. D degree in Electronics Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi, Varanasi, U.P., India. He is Senior Member of IEEE. He has more than 27 years of experience of teaching and research. He received various fellowships and awards by the national and international bodies mainly Monbusho Fellowship, Japan, MERIT Fellowship, European Union, DAAD Fellowship, Germany, TWAS Fellowship, China, IFCAM Fellowship, France, TWAS Fellowship, Brazil and many others. He worked as Visiting Scientist/Post doc Fellow at Information Engineering Department, Niigata University, Japan, German Aerospace Center, Germany, Institute for National Research In Informatics and Automatique, France, Institute of Remote Sensing Application, Beijing, China, Karlsruhe University, Germany, UPC, Barcelona, Spain and visited several other laboratories in other countries. He received best innovation award in India Mobile Congress-2017 for development of Satellite Based Agriculture Information System. He received the best Industrial Research award-2017 by Institution of Engineers, Roorkee Chapter. He has received Dr. Ajit Singhvi Institute Chair Professors in June 2018 and June 2021. He received National GOLD Award for e-governance 2019-2020 for Outstanding research on Citizen Centric Services for the project “Satellite Based Agriculture Information System: An efficient application of ICT” by Govt. of India, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances. Currently he is Senior Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India and Joint Faculty and Former Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee, India. He is also the Coordinator of DRONE RESEARCH CENTER, IIT Roorkee. He has started a startup DIRGHADHI TECHNOLOGY PVT LTD (www.dirghadhi.com). He has guided 33 Ph.D students and 20 are pursuing their Ph.D and guided more than 66 M. Tech students. He has published more than 325+ research papers in reputed international/national journals and conferences. He has developed several products like Agriculture Information System, Through the wall imaging system, ground penetrating radar etc. His main research interests involve microwave/mm wave imaging and numerical modeling, radar absorbing materials, stealth application, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Data Fusion, ICT, Satellite data application, polarimetric and interferometric application of microwave data.

Title of the Talk - Antennas at user terminal: How many antennas do we need?

Azremi Abdullah Al-Hadi (S’13 M’13 SM’14) was born on August 26 in Michigan, United States of America. He received the Master of Science degree in communication engineering from Birmingham University, United Kingdom in 2004 and the Doctor of Science in Technology degree from Aalto University, Finland in 2013. His current research interests include design and performance evaluation of multi-element antennas, mobile terminal antennas and their user interactions, and wireless propagation. In these fields, he has published more than 65 research journals and 130 conference proceedings. He is currently working as an Associate Professor and holds position as Dean of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). He has been with the university since 2002. He is active in volunteering work with IEEE Malaysia Section, acting as the Senior Member of IEEE, Chair of the IEEE Malaysia Antenna Propagation / Microwave Theory Techniques / Electromagnetic Compatibility (AP/MTT/EMC) Joint Chapter and Past Counselor for the IEEE UniMAP Student Branch. He is the Chartered Engineer of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, the Professional Technologist of the Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT), Malaysia, and the member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Malaysia. Dr. Azremi was the recipient of the Best Student Paper Award presented at the 5th Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference (LAPC 2009), the CST University Publication Award in 2011, and the Excellence and Best Paper Awards from IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter in 2018, 2019 and 2020. During his appointment as the Vice Chair, the chapter has won the 2020 Outstanding Chapter Award by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society.

He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing, China. He has presented several articles in peer-reviewed conferences. He has published numerous studies in science cited journals. LAXMI KANT SAHOO

Mr Laxmi Kant Sahoo is currently working as Program Manager at Mercedes Benz Research & Development India. He got his B.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation from Utkal University, Odisha and M.tech. from IIT Kharagpur in Visual information & embedded system. Mr Sahoo has 14 years of experience, which span into research, industry and academics. He has a research interest in image processing, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, signal processing and embedded system. He has published several research papers in reputed national/international journals and conferences. He has filed 2 patents on automotive vehicular technology. He has reviewed more than 50 IEEE papers in signal, image and embedded system domain. Mr Sahoo has extensively worked in automotive industry from last 6-7 years in realizing Level 3 autonomous cars and self-driving cars. Majority of his contributions are in Sensor fusion technology, Object detection and tracking, lane detection, pedestrian and cyclist detection etc. He has actively participated in many national and international symposiums in Europe and Asia – pacific.

Devashish Arora has received his M.Tech degree with 1st class with Distinction in Communication Systems in Electronics & Communication Department from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R). He is currently Engineer at Qualcomm, India. Prior to this, he worked as Project Engineer at Wipro Technologies from 2013-2016 and worked as Research Assistant at Integrated Radio Development & Signal Processing Lab, IIT Roorkee from 2016-2018. He also has industrial experiences in ONGC & BSNL in field of Mobile Technology and Wireless Telecommunications. Devashish Arora is member of IEEE and his research has resulted number of publications in IEEE conferences and one applied patent. His current research interests are in the areas of 5G Communications, LTE, Digital Signal Processing, MIMO, Beamforming and related to the areas of Information Theory and Advanced Communication Systems.
